Preview & Picks: TOUR Championship

Just like that, we’ve arrived at the final tournament of the season: the TOUR Championship at East Lake.

Twenty-nine golfers have one last chance to stop Scottie Scheffler.

Can one of them do it?

Vegas certainly doesn’t think so—his odds to win against the 30-man field are +150.

The only other golfer in recent history with odds that short is Tiger - go figure.

In years past, Scottie would have started at 10-under, leaving little chance for anyone to catch him—besides Rory McIlroy, who would have started at 8-under.

But this year is different.

There’s at least a chance of Scottie losing, since the unpopular starting-strokes format has been scrapped.

The TOUR has called this a “bridge year,” which means further changes could be coming to the TOUR Championship in 2026, so don’t get used to this format.

As the season wraps up, that’s just one more thing for new CEO Brian Rolapp to figure out.

Speaking of the future, LIV’s season also comes to an end this week, marking yet another year with no deal in place between the two competing professional golf tours. At this point, it seems like it will never happen.

Shanks Picks

Let’s hope somebody can fend off Scheffler and keep this thing interesting.

Also, we picked Viktor Hovland the last two weeks and it didn’t work out. If he wins this week, we’re going to be depressed.

Winner: JJ Spaun +2700: Gotta bet the hot hand right? It’s been a good summer for JJ, let’s see if he can end it on a high note.

Winner: Justin Rose +5500: There’s not many golfers who’ve played better than Rosie this year.

Winner: Harry Hall +5500: Harry has played his way into the championship, but he needs to win it to play his way onto the European Ryder Cup team.
