Good Morning! Welcome to Shanks. Four tournaments into the year and we’ve had four long odds winners in a row, you’d think a favorite is due soon right? Maybe this week the trend will break with Rory, Scottie, and Viktor Hovland in the field at Pebble Beach.
Golf Trivia: Where was Martin Trainer born?
Here's what we've got for ya today:
It looked a little dicey for a moment there. We even saw some mentions of Jean Van De Velde on Twitter after Matthieu Pavon had just missed a three-footer to save par on the 17th hole.
He walked onto the 18th tee with a one stroke lead over his playing partner Nicolai Hojgaard.
His tee shot found a fairway bunker, and he was forced to layup into some heavy cabbage. Now he’d have to carry the water from about 100 yards out to give himself a chance to get up & down for the winning birdie. Here’s the shot:
He poured in the putt from about 8 feet to secure the victory and make history… kinda.
Hard to believe, ain’t it?
That’s because it’s not really true, but the PGAT has had a little habit of revisionist history on social media lately, or, at the very least they get creative in how they like to phrase things.
For example, this tweet from last week which conveniently excludes Phil Mickelson being the most recent amateur to win a tour event before Nick Dunlap. Clever phrasing, but petty.
Anyway, in this case, because Martin Trainer is French, he should be considered the most recent Frenchman to win on tour. However, because he’s a US citizen, they get to say that it’s actually Matthieu Pavon. We have no idea why they do this.
A Ludvig Aberg top-ten gives us three top tens on the year, but man, these longshot winners have been tough to predict. We will continue to fight for our readers though.

With Joymode
JOYMODE’s Sexual Performance Booster is like a pre-workout, but for sex! It’s designed to support erection quality, firmness, and sex drive utilizing clinically supported doses of L-Citrulline, Arginine Nitrate, Ginseng, and Vitamin C.
Simply mix a packet with 6-8 ounces of water, just like your favorite electrolyte sachet. For best use, consume anywhere from 45 minutes to 5 hours prior to sexual activity. After consuming our Sexual Performance Booster, blood levels of arginine increase, which will directly promote nitric oxide production, penile tissue relaxation, and increased drive. Meanwhile, the antioxidant action of vitamin C will protect nitric oxide from oxidative degradation, which enhances the blood flow promoting activity of nitric oxide. Collectively, these effects enhance sex drive, increase sexual energy, better blood flow to the penis, resulting in better performance & erection quality.
Finally a superior, science backed alternative to prescriptions with all sorts of side effects or over-the-counter gas station pills that are sketchy and fraudulent!
The angriest golfer on Tour is rumored to be joining Jon Rahm (the second angriest golfer on tour) over at LIV Golf.
I, for one, will miss seeing his antics out there.
Some may not like it, but his playing partners have repeatedly said it doesn’t bother them when he gets angry, and I find it to be hilarious. Remember when he pretended his putter was a gun and fired imaginary shots at the course?
Anyway, according to a report by The Telegraph, LIV will be paying him $50 Million (I don’t know how to make my keyboard make the Euro symbol).
Yesterday was a masterclass in resolve by Nelly Korda.
She went into the final round with a four shot lead over Megan Khang and Lydia Ko, but struggled through the round and ended up three back with two to play.
Then she hit a clutch eagle putt on 17. One back one to play.
Here’s the approach shot she hit on the 18th hole, which forced a playoff, which she won. Clutch.
