Rory Goes Back To Back
Plus: Gnome Sells For 28k, Fleetwoods Pants, and More.

Good Morning. Wow. That was a lot of fun. Rory becomes just the 4th golfer ever to win back-to-back Masters. Of course, Nike had a Rory commercial ready to roll as soon as he put the jacket back on.
“The greatest golfers in the world don’t want a jacket. They want another one.

Quick Recap: The 90th Masters

What an electric Sunday at Augusta National.
Rory McIlroy and Cameron Young started the day tied for the lead at -11, both made an early birdie to get to -12, and from there it didn’t take long for things to get stressful.
Rory blinked first - double on 4, bogey on 6 - and just like that, the guy everyone had been chasing all week was now the one doing the chasing.
Young didn’t exactly seize the moment either. Bogeys on 6 and 7, a bounce-back birdie on 8, then another bogey on 9. He made the turn at -10, and suddenly Augusta had that feeling again.
Wide open. Anyone’s tournament.
Justin Rose stepped into that vacuum and, for a moment, it felt like it might finally be his day. He grabbed a two-shot lead at -12. Then Amen Corner got the best of him - he bogeyed the 11th and 12th, and opened the door for everyone else.
Rory walked right back through it.
Four birdies in the heart of the round (7,8,12,13) with the shot of the day at the 12th, and just like that he was back at -13.
Behind him, the board kept shuffling.
Rose gave it one last push with a birdie on 15 to get to -11, but a missed look on 16 and a bogey on 17 ended it at -10. Tough one. Really tough. You don’t know how many more real chances he’ll get at a green jacket.
Scottie Scheffler, meanwhile, couldn’t get a putt to fall for most of his day. He birdied on 15 and 16 to get to -11, and nearly poured in another on 17 that hung on the lip. He posted -11 and finished in solo 2nd.
Cameron Young couldn’t get anything to fall on the back nine, he made nine pars in a row.
In the end, no one could catch McIlroy, who steadied himself after a rocky start, got himself back in the lead, and never relinquished it. Even with a shaky bogey at the last.
With his victory, Rory became just the 4th player to ever win back to back Masters.
He now has six majors, which is tied with Nick Faldo, Lee Trevino, and Phil Mickelson.
After a decade-long major drought, Rory has won two in the last year.
I can’t help but wonder if we will see a Tom Brady like career arc here. It’s easy to forget that even the GOAT went ten years without winning a Superbowl smack dab in the middle of his career. Then he went and won four more.
How many majors will Rory have when he calls it quits? Rumors are he wants to catch Gary Player and Ben Hogan at nine. He might just.
