Preview & Picks: Texas Children’s Houston Open

Last year, nobody was hotter than Scottie Scheffler.
This year, that title belongs to Rory McIlroy.
Both are in the field this week at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, which is notable in itself—it’s rare to see the World No. 1 and No. 2 tee it up outside of a major or signature event.
That said, it feels like Scottie is due, doesn’t it? He finished T-2 here last year, it’s that time of year when he usually catches fire, and with The Masters just two weeks out, he still doesn’t have a win in 2025. The odds might be short, but he’s going on the card.
Rory and Scottie are joined by Min Woo Lee, Wyndham Clark, Jason Day, and Tony Finau, making this a sneaky-good field.
It’s also a full field event with 156 players and a cut, which means we’re getting the return of Friday Cut Watch—a tradition that sickos (myself included) absolutely love. Props to the Tour for leaning into it more this year and showing the players battling to make the cut on Friday afternoons.
The course? Memorial Park is a bit of a unicorn. It’s got three par fives, five par threes, and ten par fours, and it also happens to be a muni—albeit the top-rated one in Texas.
Should be a fun one.

Masters Remixes
Yesterday, The Masters released this original advertisement, featuring the music of Noah Kahan. People on social media did not like it much. You can watch the original here.
Then, the internet did it’s thing… remixing it with other background songs. Admittedly, I’ve been totally distracted listening to all the different variations this morning. Some of them are absolutely killing me.
The funniest so far is the Creed x The Masters remix, which we reposted on our Instagram (above) but credit goes to Shooter McGavin on X for that one.
Have to give a hat tip to Chris Powers as well, he’s been on a tear over the last 24 hours with his Steely Dan and Lil Wayne versions.
Please don’t ignore this underrated gem either.

Sun Day Red has had some hits and some misses, but this one is absolutely a hit.
It’s a performance golf shoe, but in the classic wingtip style. Super clean.
