⛳️ Wyndham Clark Wins At Pebble

Good Morning! Welcome to Shanks. Viktor Hovland has WD’d from the WM Open this week. Some think it’s due to an injury, and some think he might be joining LIV. Until there’s some sort of resolution between the two golf leagues, these rumors are going to happen every time there’s a WD.

Oh, and apparently Rory McIlroy didn’t like Jordan Spieths comments about PIF / LIV not being necessary anymore since the PGAT raised money. The comments reportedly lead to Rory leaving a group chat and an hour long phone convo between the two.

THE DRAMA NEVER ENDS.

Quick Recap: Pebble Beach

Pebble Beach Gets Cancelled Due To Weather

Man, we really wanted to see this thing go the distance, but the Monterey Peninsula was experiencing gale force winds and rain, which forced the PGAT (and local authorities) to call it after 54 holes.

The golf on Saturday was really fun to watch. Ludvig Aberg was doing his thing, we had a horse in the race with Justin Thomas, and it looked like Scottie Scheffler fixed his putter. Then Wyndham Clark just snapped. There was a great finish brewing at a historic course for Sunday.

Instead, we ended up deprived. At least the WM Open is this week…

Wyndham Clark Sets Course Record, Wins.

While it was a tad disappointing to not see a fourth round, that shouldn’t take anything away from what Wyndham Clark did.

The reigning US Open champ was on fire. He shot a front-nine 28 en-route to a course-record breaking 60.

It seemed like him and his Odyssey Jailbreak Putter just could not miss. He made almost 190 feet of putts in the third round alone.

Afterward, he talked about why he chose his legacy over LIV.

We assume BetMGM will be voiding all bets from the weekend, but that has yet to be determined.

With OddsJam

Arbitrage Betting With OddsJam

Arbitrage betting is where you bet on both sides of an outcome to guarantee a risk-free return. An example of this is betting on a player to score AND not score a touchdown, or a team to win AND lose a game.

This might sound too good to be true, but the reason this can happen is sportsbooks set their lines for games independently. Sometimes, they make mistakes and there are situations where FanDuel's model is different than DraftKings' model. These books have hundreds of thousands of odds, and a small percentage of them are simply wrong. The OddsJam arbitrage tool scans millions of odds every second and finds these needle-in-a-haystack opportunities that you can bet on to secure a risk-free profit.

The process is simple: see an opportunity on OddsJam, place a bet on book #1, place a bet on book #2. That is all it takes to secure a risk-free profit in 1-2 minutes. Even making $50 a day adds up to $18,000 a year, and it can be done in less than an hour each day.

If you would like to try making risk-free money with the OddsJam arbitrage tool, click the link to get a free 7-day trial.

ALL plans come with a 30-day money back guarantee.

LIV Had A Golden Opportunity

We wouldn’t normally link out to any articles that ask our readers to pay, but this one was free to read on The Athletic for us, so we assume it will be for you too. If not, the key takeaways are below.

With the final round at Pebble Beach being cancelled, LIV had a golden opportunity on Sunday. Especially with their revamped roster that includes Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton.

They ended up having a pretty fun finish, with Joaqin Niemann beating Sergio Garcia in a four hole playoff.

  • The top 10 from Mayakoba included Niemann, Garcia, Rahm, Johnson, Koepka, Hatton, Smith and Louis Oosthuizen. You’re telling on yourself if you dismiss that.
  • Not sure what to take from Niemann dropping in the winning putt and making much of his victory interview about his exclusion from the major championships. “I’m not in the majors,” was the first thing he said when given a mic. Is it a sign of his competitiveness that his mind immediately went to the next thing, or something else?
  • First, the positives: Most of what is put on the screen is quite good. The leaderboard is a plus, relevant stats are at the ready, and the putting line graphic helps the viewer to understand what they are watching. They also did a nice job of laying out and letting us hear the player and caddy discuss shots, and that’s the good stuff. There are also just a lot of golf shots shown, which should not feel so revolutionary, but for a public subjected to NBC’s PGA Tour broadcasts it just does. As for everything else? It leaves a lot to be desired.
  • The biggest problem with an LIV Golf broadcast is that it’s constantly trying to convince us of something, instead of just letting events speak for themselves. There’s a constant barrage of Tweets, which as a storytelling mechanism feels stolen out of a 2012 game broadcast anyway — and they’re all about the same. That player is great. This is exciting. I’m watching right now. They don’t add anything, and if Arlo White isn’t reading them for us they’re scrolling along the bottom of the screen.

Clever Bettors?

First, it would never occur to me to do this, so props to these random golf bettors for being clever and trying to get one over on the books. Sometimes, it pays to think outside the box.

Probably not this time though.

I’m going to guess that there’s no way these guys get paid, and they’ll likely just void the ticket.

Second, it’s also kind of remarkable to me that the twitter account is asking if it’s an opportunity to short Draftkings stock. I’m assuming that on the rare occasion where books get caught up in something dumb (clever?) like this, the stock drops?

What a world we live in.

This is NOT financial advice*
