Viktor Hovland Compares Himself To Eminem

During Masters week you get some really good soundbites from the players. Yesterday, Viktor Hovland stole the show. He went from UFO’s, to 8 Mile, to radial wrist flexion all in one short interview. You’ve gotta appreciate how authentic the guy is. We are fans.
And on the other end of the spectrum, you have Collin Morikawa’s weird, ongoing tiff with the media. If you recall, the whole thing started at the AP Invitational when he refused to talk to the press after his loss. He was criticized by the media afterward and it’s continued to follow him ever since. He was asked about it again yesterday, and his answer has lead to a bunch of people arguing on X. Is he being soft? Is he justified?
It turns out, unlike other pro sports, golfers are not obligated to talk to the press. It’s totally optional for them, ask Rory McIlroy.
Finally, it wouldn’t be a major without a funny Bryson DeChambeau quote.

Top Storylines:
Can Rory McIlroy finally end his major drought? Overcoming his Masters demons and becoming just the 6th ever golfer to win the career grand slam would be a helluva way to do it. He’s got serious momentum heading in.
Can Scottie Scheffler go back to back? It’s famously difficult to go back to back at The Masters, but there’s also no other course where past performance is as indicative of future results as Augusta National. Plus, it’s Scottie Scheffler we’re talking about here.
No one is talking about X Man. Xander Schauffele is going for 3 of last 4 majors. Yes, he’s been a little out of sorts after his injury, but he’s quietly been returning to form. Somehow, it feels like no one is talking about this.
Don’t sleep on the LIV Guys. Bryson and Brooks are the obvious ones, but you’ve got quite a few former Masters champions over there who’ve been in pretty good form lately. Expect someone from that group to make some noise.
What if Jordan Spieth is back? I’m not saying he’s back, but he’s been playing better after his wrist surgery and he’s certainly got a history at Augusta National.
Shanks Picks, Props, and Parlays.
Let’s have a little fun this week and mix it up.
Winner: Rory McIlroy +650. He is the only player that matches all 19 of these Masters Trends put together by Ron Klos
Winner: Bryson DeChambeau +2000. Honestly? We had Grok Ai analyze SG data against the vegas odds, and it told us that at +2000, Bryson is undervalued.
Winner: Sepp Straka +8000. He finished T16 last year at The Masters and he’s in great form with a win this year. These odds feel blatantly disrespectful.
Top Twenty: Jason Day +170
Top Twenty: Patrick Reed +170
Top Twenty: Phil Mickelson +250
Top Twenty Parlay: Russel Henley, Will Zalatoris, Sepp Straka, Jason Day, & Matt Fitzpatrick to all finish in the Top 20 including ties. +10676
First Round Leader: Jordan Spieth +4000 (He has held the round one lead three times over the last ten years).
Old Guy Prop: Bernard Langer To Make The Cut +250
Fun Prop: Top Continental European Sergio Gracia +900
Fade: Collin Morikawa. A ton of people are picking him this week and the data backs up that choice. I may regret it later, but he just seems too whiny lately to wear a green jacket.

Thing We’d Buy: Double Seve
Sickos will appreciate this nod to the legend of Seve Ballesteros.
Everyone knows the story of the original; in 1986 the Spaniard was rocking a tour visor with the Club logo for the first few rounds of the Masters Tournament.
Turned out, come Sunday, he was close to the lead and team swoosh was eager to capitalize on the TV time their high profile staffer was bound to get. So, they took two shirt labels, applied them on top of the existing mark and a legend was born. You can see the original Nike one here.
